There was so much good work at Stitch Spectacular, but Mark and I had a couple of favorites:
Anna Keck, who uses photographs, embroidery, and printmaking to explore the nature of memory. You should check out her website, she has so much interesting work. She's almost finished with her MFA, congrats!
Katie Latona, whose piece, "Martin Luther King, Jr. April 4, 1968", is really amazing. You can see it here. She has a second piece in the show, "You Make Me Want to Be a Better Man." You can see it here. I thought at first that the text in "You Make Me Want to Be a Better Man" was machine stitched, it was so impeccibly made. (Mark says:) And the typography is really nice. Beautiful! Maybe Katie is my new favorite person.
