They would be vegan, if it weren't for all the butter

These are the "world peace cookies" from Smitten Kitchen. They don't contain eggs, but there's a lot of butter in there. The dough is very crumbly and I did all the mixing by hand, so I never felt like it was incorporated very well, there were buttery patches here and dry ones somewhere else. But it's still good, the dough. And they bake into this sandy deliciousness.
